Azza Fahmy Jewellery presents its newest Soraya Collection, a collection inspired by the enduring symbolism of the crescent moon and stars, reimagined through the brand’s lens of storytelling, craftsmanship, and cultural exploration.
For centuries, the crescent and star have travelled across the Ottoman world, woven into architecture, textiles, jewellery, and decorative arts. Carried across generations, the motif became part of a rich visual language that remained recognisable while continually taking on new forms.
At the heart of Soraya lies one of Azza Fahmy’s most recognisable signatures: the chain. More than a functional element, it becomes the collection’s defining language. Inspired by and brought to life through the house’s intricate mesh-like chain technique, Soraya transforms chainwork into fluid surfaces that recall the softness and drape of textile. Chains connect motifs, create movement, and shape fluid silhouettes, transforming ornament into structure.
The collection explores celestial symbolism through a rich variety of forms and inspirations. The Celestial Scarf Necklace transforms Azza Fahmy’s signature chain into a fluid, scarf-like composition inscribed with the lyric “معاك بتحلو بتحلو أوقاتي”) “My days become sweeter with you”), from the beloved Warda song. Designed to be worn in multiple ways, it is finished with cascading chains adorned with crescent and star motifs that bring movement and lightness to the piece. Taking approximately 82 hours to create, the necklace is a testament to the exceptional level of craftsmanship behind the collection, where every detail is thoughtfully executed by hand in keeping with the brand’s dedication to artistry and heritage.
The Cascading Crescent & Star Earrings reinterpret one of the brand’s most recognisable chain forms through an Ottoman crescent and star motif at the ear, from which a mesh-like composition falls with the softness of textile. Emerging from the cascading chains, celestial motifs create a dynamic interplay of light and movement. The design is also offered in an all-gold version adorned with diamonds, elevating the piece into a statement of refined glamour.
Inspired by Victorian jewellery, the Celestial Beaded Choker reimagines the classic pearl choker through the celestial language of Soraya. Composed of three strands of pearls or coloured stones, the design is centred by an Ottoman crescent and star motif set with champagne diamonds, presented upside down as a contemporary reinterpretation of a familiar symbol.
The collection also pays homage to traditional Egyptian jewellery through the Celestial Kirdan Necklace, inspired by Fallahy adornments worn in rural Egypt. Featuring a star-adorned chain integrated with dangling stars and precious stone drops, the necklace is centred by a diamond-set Ottoman crescent and star motif, creating a piece rich in movement, colour, and cultural resonance.
Another key design, the Constellation Chain Bracelet, reimagines Azza Fahmy’s iconic chain by incorporating star motifs in three distinct forms. Together, they create a mesh-like structure reminiscent of woven textile, while three Ottoman crescent and star motifs at its centre unite the collection’s celestial narrative with the house’s signature chainwork.
Throughout Soraya, rings, bangles, pendants, and earrings continue this collection between history and reinvention. Pieces such as the Cascading Celestial Choker, Ottoman Crescent & Star Ring, Three Star & Crescent Ring, Star & Crescent Bangle, and Ottoman Chain Bracelet reinterpret historic symbols through contemporary silhouettes, while maintaining the craftsmanship and storytelling that define the design house’s values.
